While Singapore was busy following Joseph School around as he tried to get lunch from his favorite hawker stall, Toastmasters, a worldwide non-profit for public speaking and leadership enthusiasts, had its annual world championships. And guess what? The winner was a Singaporean.

Young Singaporean lawyer Darren Tay beat out 30,000 other competitors from around the world over six months to finally win at the finals last week in Washington DC, the first Singaporean to do so, with a funny and insightful speech about meeting his childhood bully as an adult.
