You never hear about fixing traffic in Bangkok by encouraging people to drive less. But there’s always some techno miracle being touted by the BMA or the traffic police to make those jams, caused by all of us driving everywhere, to magically disappear. After the super-computer controlled red lights, we’re about to get super-computer controlled drivers. A “new technology” will soon be rolled out that gives drivers live updates about traffic across the city through display boards situated along the roads and via the local television stations. Of course, there’s also an app thrown in the mix, but rather than connect with any of this valuable traffic information, it is designed to teach us to drive better and for some obscure reason is called “Delivery Traffic.”
