OK, so it’s not like Bangkok is short of carparks but this new proposal does promise to make our weekend excursions to Chatuchak Market that bit more civilized. Having to face the hassle of getting public transport to JJ Market or worse, fight it out with the market’s vendors for a space at JJ Mall might be a thing of the past. That’s because the State Railway of Thailand are currently studying a plan to let private investors from China and South Korea build a new 2,000 vehicle carpark underneath the market on Phahon Yothin Road. The proposal would also include space for underground shopping for those who really can’t take the heat but can’t do without their market fix.
