New BTS Cards
The BTS has recently announced the demise of the SmartPass, which will be now be replaced with the Rabbit card. How are they different? The Rabbit card holds the promise of being compatible with the MRT at some unspecified date in the future. And of course, it’s a great way for the BTS to dramatically raise its prices once more. New users purchasing a Rabbit card will be charged B50, but the price will then increase to B150 from Jan 1, 2013. The good news: if you already hold a SmartPass, you can exchange it for a Rabbit card for free. People using a SmartPass (30-day pass) can exchange it for a Rabbit pass from this Apr 23; those using a stored value SmartPass can exchange it from May 1 at any BTS station.
