Singapore's inaugural Prudential Eye Awards, which recognize emerging Asian artists, will be launched on 18 January 2014 at Suntec City.

The upcoming Prudential Eye Awards (part of the Global Eye Program) will be launched on January 18 2014. These new contemporary art awards aim to celebrate emerging artistic talent from over thirty countries in Asia.

The Awards will span photography, painting, sculpture, installation and digital/video. Shortlisted artists from each discipline will be nominated by a group of experts and judged by an independent panel, after which their works will be shown at Suntec City from January 16 to February 5 2014.

Five category winners, who will each receive a prize of US$20,000, will be announced at an awards ceremony on 18 January 2014. The overall winner, who will receive an additional US$30,000, will also get the opportunity to have his or her works exhibited at London's famed Saatchi Gallery in the summer of 2014.

Aspiring talents are not forgotten. Prudential, along with LASALLE College of the Arts, is also sponsoring a contemporary art prize for budding Singaporean artists. The Prudential Singapore Young Artist Award, which will be announced alongside the Prudential Eye Awards, will provide the brightest young talent with a cool US$10,000.
