The redevelopment of Bukit Brown Cemetery has been in the news for several years now, but what does it mean for the caretakers who maintain the tombs there? How does it affect the volunteers seeking to reunite families with the remains of their ancestors? Roots is a short documentary that follows the day-to-day work of veteran “grave sweeper” Soh Hun Seng and tomb hunter Raymond Goh. Produced by the team behind The Rooted Community, five students pursuing Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Creative Writing for TV and New Media (DTVM), it raises questions about the real cost of losing Bukit Brown.
