It’s about time

A draggy kerfuffle among the owners had delayed the opening of the luxury hotel at heritage development Capitol Singapore by almost three years. But all that bad news is soon to be water under the bridge with the opening of The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, slated to welcome its first guests come Oct 1.

It was originally meant to be a Patina-branded establishment, but we’re not complaining with independent hotel brand Kempinski deciding to operate the space—157 rooms spread across the restored Capitol Building and Stamford House. It’s also they’re first foray into Singapore, so while we’re not sure what to expect yet, the pictures are already revealing a modern, stylish take on colonial art deco and Victorian aesthetics, in sync with the heritage elements of the building.

A signature of all Kempinski hotels worldwide are their brand ambassadors—ladies that don an iconic red colored dress adorned with light touches of local culture. So for Singapore, will we be getting Peranakan-inspired motifs on kebayas or cheongsams? Highly likely.

Deluxe Room

Other than that, expect a range of room categories from the classic deluxe to luxurious suites, a gym, spa and pool, as well as various F&B concepts found at the hotel and at Capitol Piazza, the mall located adjacent to it. Info on the hotel’s dining and drink offerings will only be released at a later date, but they’ve at least announced that their anchor venue will be one conceptualised by a three Michelin-starred chef. Our expectations are set real high now.

The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore is located at 15 Stamford Rd. Special opening rates start from $568. More info here.
