Here's the latest in local music.

A new album by Vanessa Fernandez

Better known as Vandetta, this R&B vocalist’s latest release, Use Me, is a collection of acoustic covers of R&B and soul covers from the 70s and 80s. She has collaborated with US musicians such as Tim Pierce and Lee Sklar for this groovy “unplugged” record. $39.99 from www.elusivedisc.com.

A set of remixes by The Observatory

The Observatory has continued its sonic evolution on its latest record, Behind These Eyes, bringing us a more darker, faster and punk sound imbued with melancholy. They are once again pushing the boundaries with an experimental remix of Catacombs by 11 artists from around the world like The Analog Girl, James Plotkin, VAVABOND and X’ Ho. $12 (for MP3 download) from ujikaji.net.

Basement Beats by Kyo

You can now enjoy the sights and sounds of Kyo from their very own YouTube channel: everything from the club’s live DJ sets and featured artists. Set up some strobes and crank up the speakers to 11 and you can have a club night in your own living room. It will launch on Jan 8, featuring house music producer and remixer, KiNK.

Bandwagon's new app

Our favorite local gig finder, Bandwagon, just got a new free app that does a pretty comprehensive list of all the live gigs happening in the city daily. Gigs are sorted according to your current location to show you the ones closest to you, be they the biggest acts in town or a small rag tag bunch of shoe-gazers you absolutely adore.
