Foodpanda now lets you "opt out" of plastic cutlery
A step in the right direction.
To mark World Environment Day (Jun 5), and in an effort to reduce plastic, Foodpanda is giving customers the choice to "opt out" of plastic cutlery when ordering from their restaurants.
The new function applies to over 100 of the restaurants listed by the food delivery service, including favorite names like Hunter Poke, Rasayana Raw Food, Dean & Deluca and Flour Shoppe—all you have to do is look for the “cutlery” tab on the menu.
“Because all the cutlery is independently handled by each restaurant rather than by Foodpanda, it required some time to align restaurants to join us,” says Bonnie Sananvatananont, Foodpanda's regional content creator who is the leader of this project.
“We are aware that most people enjoy food at their home or office, where cutlery is already available, meaning the plastic ones are immediately thrown away," she continues. "As one of the leading food delivery companies in Thailand, we have a responsibility in driving the sustainability initiatives of the industry”.
Bravo Foodpanda—this is certainly a step in the right direction for tackling Bangkok's growing plastic problem. www.foodpanda.co.th
