Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has spoken of her confidence that the construction of key sluice gates will be completed in July, ready for the worst of the rainy season. They have also announced the launch of a new website, BKK Flood Watch, which should be used by officials to communicate with Bangkok residents, updating them on the floods, informing them of prevention measures and also listing the people who have missed out on compensation money. So don’t deflate your boat just yet, but keep your fingers crossed and you may not have to paddle to work any time soon.
