Ditching your car and walking home is usually a wise choice after a heavy bout of drinking. But with the present wild weather, it could mean putting your life at risk for those who live near waterways or in flood-affected areas. Deputy Minister of Public Health Dr. Suratwit Khonsomboon recently warned of the danger of being intoxicated while in the water. He said alcohol consumption expands the blood vessels causing your body to lose heat, which could lead to your legs cramping or, at worst, a complete body shutdown. So, if you’ve been on the booze, you’d best steer clear of the waterways lest you fall into the drink and drown. As for swimming, save that for after happy hour on your next island getaway.
