A total of 4,750 businesses throughout Bangkok have been found to be lacking adequate safety precautions for producing, storing and transporting chemicals and hazardous substances. One of the main concerns is that the warehouses storing these chemicals seriously lack emergency plans, increasing the potential threat to workers and surrounding communities. The announcement was made by Deputy Bangkok Governor Mrs. Malinee Sukavejworakit who reassured residents that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is introducing plans to reduce the risk of chemical exposure in the capital to protect residents and lessen environmental damage. With the proper safety measures finally in place, there should be no reason to worry, or so we’re told. Now, we’re just going to buy ourselves a gas mask and hazmat suit while we wait.
