An abandoned guesthouse in Thonglor will be jam-packed with 23artists and performers, to mark its reincarnation as the Thong Lor Art Space. For the opening nights , an event dubbed The Other Rooms will let a free-spirited crowd enjoy wandering into each of the somewhat haunted-looking rooms to discover installations, film screenings, and live performances by the likes of Nophand Boonyai, Nikorn Saetang and Chulayarnnon Siriphol.
 
 
 
Asian Invasion May 2-4
The Very Kind Invention organizer presents its first curated art exhibition showcasing works by artists from Thailand, Taiwan and Japan, including 56 Studio’s Saran Yen, Yuji Maruyama and Ting Cheng, ranging from collage and painting to sculpture and mixed-media installation. Opening party on May 2, 6pm, with DJs Mae Happyair, Moola and Coconut Party DJs.
 
 
 
The Burmese are taking over our art scene this week, or at least Rebel Art Space in Phra Kanong, to voice their views on life under the military junta. The politically-charged General/Tiger/Gun exhibition, named after the Burmese version of the rock-paper-scissors game, is curated by Moe Satt and Bee Jiratti.

There’s some serious cultural exchange going on through music at Zoo tonight, as the French artist collaborates with L.J. Bain Chompoowong and Stylish Nonsense’s June, joined by the buzz-worthy Yui Cello. 
 
 
 

Thailand Toy Expo 2014 through May 4
Pretend to bring your neice to CentralWolrd and meet your boyhood hero Kenji Oba, who plays the iconic galaxy polic Giaban, alongside famous cartoonists Sven Waschk and Ashley Wood at this big toy fair. The showcase by over 50 toy manufacturers includes life-sized models and models from TV series Game of Throne and The Walking Dead. There's also a tribute exhibition to the late Mamafaka.

This party will try every trick to get you totally wasted, in keeping with the theme of Graham Meyer’s new photo zine Mao Mak Mag, which  documents drunken moments and hangovers from around the city. 
 
 
 
Bassclef Returns May 3
After a long absence, the DJ collective returns with a party featuring Fools Gold Records’ Russian producer 813 who will perform an eclectic live set alongside DJs from CMYK, Phatfunk, Late Night Brotherhood and Bassclef residents. 
 
 
 
After having to reschedule due to the election alcohol ban, the laidback Jam Garage Sale will take place this week at Jam. Bring your own goodies to trade or just shop for both vintage and handmade items. There are also drinks, Jam burgers, DJs and top local acts like The Sticky Rice, Wednesday, Neuter Lover and Panic Station.
