Absolut Artelier: The Illuminated Garden (Apr 4-7)

Postponed from last week, here’s hoping that visual arts-meets-music initiative Absolut Artelier: The Illuminated Garden will truly take place at The Jam Factory, curated by much-loved illustrator Pomme Chan. Acts like Apartmentkhunpa and Ornaree will join forces on stage along with Dudesweet DJs, Pomme Chan’s exhibition, Wisut Ponnimit’s animation of his cute cartoon girl Mango, plus workshops and a popup Bangkok Poetry night (Apr 6).

Foster + Partners: The Art of Architecture  (Apr 4-Jun 29)


This is an absolute must-see for design heads. Right up there with Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas and Frank Gehry, the Pritzker-prize winner Norman Foster (30 St. Mary Axe, the iaduc de Millau, HSBC Hong Kong building) is one of the biggest names in architecture. The traveling exhibition Foster + Partners: The Art of Architecture will display his firm’s models and photographs at BACC.

Duck & Noodle throws a till-dawn rooftop party featuring Berlin-based duo Christopher Tooker and Shawna Hofmann, aka KMLN, playing a mix of house and techno tunes along with DJ Dragon and resident DJs, plus lighting by Go Ueda. 15 percent of the profits go to charity.

It’s a triple delight for drum n’ bass fans at Glow with three international DJs from three big labels: Dave Owen (Liquild), Calculon (Innerground) and Metalheadz’s veteran producer Digital.

Festival of Luis Bunuel in Mexico (Apr 5-6)

Five of Buñuel’s films produced during the time he resided in Mexico to be screened for free over the weekend (Apr 5-6) at Sri Salaya Theatre. Film critic Wiwat “Filmsick” Lertwiwatwongsa will also give a talk about the director on Apr 5. Screenings in Spanish with English subtitles. See the schedule, here.

30 Seconds to Mars (Apr 5)

While some may plead for pretty boy Jared Leto, who just won the Academy Awards’ Best Supporting Actor, to stick to his day job, fans of 30 Seconds to Mars can’t get enough of the band’s catchy 80s synth pop. So head to BITEC as Jared, brother Shannon and Tomo Milicevic celebrate their fourth studio album Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams with their Thailand debut.

BU Playfest 2014: The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Apr 3-5)


The thesis theater festival at Bangkok University restages The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Martin McDonagh‘s black comedy about 40-year-old spinster Maureen Folan and her cunning and calculating mother Mag.

Bangkok Lyrical Lunacy: Confess the Night Away (Apr 5)


The open mic night returns for the fiftth time under the theme "Confess the Night Away ," featuring Singaporean poet Charlene Shepherdson among 13 performers lining up to confess from poetry to monologue.
