Bangkok's best April Fools' Day pranks 2016
Why oh why can't these be true?
The U.S. Embassy went for a fake job advert recruiting someone to look after the Wireless Road embassy compound's feral felines. The post has already racked up over 6,000 shares—not too surprising given Bangkok's overwhelming cat obsession.
It was a Bangkok indie kid's wet dream. The party crew shared a poster for a massive multi-day music festival headlined by the likes of Radiohead, The xx, Morissey and Two Door Cinema Club (this last one's kinda true, at least). We can see why the post was promptly taken down, but not before accruing a few hundred shares.
Taxi-on-demand service Grab led with the news it would be launching a tuktuk application. The joke was sniffed out pretty quickly on this one, with the very first comments crying foul.
Bangkok's traffic is pretty bad, but not quite bad enough to make this one believable. Still, we enjoyed the idea of the Transport Department putting out a 'Guideline of School Helicopter Transport Services.'
There were phone calls, there were disappointed walk-ins. If we didn't know there was already a huge market for salted egg yolk lava-filled treats, we do now. Bangkok bakers, take this opportunity.
