Located next to Bangkok Noi canal, Chann is a brand-new boutique hotel hidden in the sois of Thonburi. With its quaint, Thai-style architecture that pays homage to the surrounding riverside community, dating back to the Ayutthaya and Thonburi eras, Chann ticks all the boxes for a perfect slow-life staycation.

The hotel is made up of two-story wooden houses, featuring 18 rooms and four special suites that range in size from 30-45 sq meters. Many of the rooms come with wooden benches at the balcony for you to chill and enjoy the sunset by the Chao Phraya River. Rates start at B4,599 right now for non-river-view rooms, but they also have special rates for Thai residents available from now through Oct 31 when you use the promo code THRES on www.channbangkoknoi.com

You don't even have to do a staycation to pay a visit to the hotel, though, as it also features a waterfront restaurant named “IMM” (as in im leaow). The menu keeps things very Thai with grilled Chantaboon pork sausage marinated with garlic and green pepper (B165), moo-ping with sticky rice (B195) and sour-and-spicy smoked dried fish soup (B240), as well as drinks and Thai desserts like tub tim krob (B75) and mango with coconut sticky rice (B120). They open from 6:30-10:30am for breakfast, 11am-4pm for lunch and 5-10pm for dinner.

As the hotel is just opposite Siriraj Bimukstan Museum, you’re only steps away from the Royal Barges Museum, Bangkok-Noi Museum and Thonburi Train Station. You can even explore the river on the hotel’s shuttle boat, or do a cycling tour of Bangkok’s old town. With organized Water Festival activities along the river at different piers like Wat Arun, Tha Maharaj and Asiatique riverfront, we think we found the perfect base for our staycation.
