Karv Design
Founded by Kittipoom Songsiri, Karv Design aims to be at the cross-section between industrial-scale production and craftsmen’s details. Their first collection sees blonde wood carved into a leaning shelf, a flower-like lamp and a very girly desk organizer.
Price: Curve Lean Shelf B3,400-3,900, Mini Town desk organizer B1,500.
PDM Brand
The brand initially started off as a design consultancy founded by product designer Doonyapol Srichan before he decided to cross the line and do his own production. His first collection, Nude, which just launched, sees sets of coated steel tables and chairs in black and red. Another highlight is the very graphic black and white woven mat. The mat uses recycled PPL (polypropylene) but the twist in design makes it a perfect fit for both modern interiors and exteriors.
Price: Steel chairs B6000-13,500 and mats from B1,850-3,250.
Satawat
Founded by product designer Ratthee Phaisanchotsiri, Satawat’s first collection offers a range of low stools, benches, lounge chairs and armchairs made from oak, teak and beech with small touches of steel and aluminum. The overall aesthetic is very pure, with a mix of straight and curved wood. The collection’s flagship is the ampai, a rounded stool that sees curved planks joined to create an upside down flower.
Price: B15,000
Alltag
Founded by two products designers, Annop Jareonkitpoolpol and Songvuth Manachaiyarak, Alltag produces decorative items in both wood and steel. Here too, “multi-purpose” and “adaptable” are key words, probably because of our ever-shrinking apartments. Highlights include the Martorra shelf, which can be transformed into various shapes, and the Unie lamp, which combines a shelf, naked lamp and mirror into one.
Price: Martorra shelf B26,800.
Flo Furniture
Freshly graduated from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi’s School of Architecture and Design, Wanus Choketaweesak and Naroot Pitisongswat quickly launched furniture shop Flo, offering carefully crafted wooden furniture. Their first collection features working tables, chairs, high stools and armchairs, which all feature their signature use of coated black and white steel joints to hold the wood together.
Price: Stools from B6,500 and table from B12,000.
Everyday-Studio
Previously behind the brand X-In-Fur, designers Wuthichai Leelavoravong and Siriporn Kobnithikulwong just introduced a sister brand, Everyday Studio, offering furniture and decorative items that are functional, multi-purpose and user-friendly. The first collection is inspired by items found in kids playgrounds: think low chairs that look like a rocking horse or a stool that incorporates a swinging foot rest.
Price: Swingy chairs B7,000 and Rocky chairs B4,500.
