This November, after much waiting the BTS will roll out its Chinese-made four-car trains on the Silom line, moving some of the old three-car trains to the Sukhumvit line in the process. That means a 30% increase in capacity on the Silom line. In real times that should translate into actually getting a seat during the day, and not having to wait for at least two trains at rush hour, well maybe. But wait, there's more good news. BTS just signed a B2 billion deal with Siemens for the German manufacturer to add a car to the 35 existing three-car trains over the next 30 months. This move to increase capacity on the Sukhumvit line coincides with the eagerly anticipated opening of the Bearing extension slated for mid-2011.
