The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration knows the best way to voters’ hearts is through their paranoia. In a bid to show they’re looking after us, BMA spokesperson Wason Meewong said the BMA’s Department of Traffic and Transportation will add 20,000 CCTV cameras to Bangkok’s existing network of 20,000 cameras—yes, that’s a total of 40,000—by the end of 2013. Contracts for the first 1,600 cameras will be signed by the time you read this, with the first cameras going to areas affected by crime and drug trafficking.
