This colorful exhibition charts life under military rule in modern-day Thailand
Dissident art.
From Jun 21-Aug 9, Bangkok CityCity Gallery will be hosting “Give Us A Little More Time” by video artist and film director Chulayarnnon Siriphol.
Since the military coup in May 2014, the artist has been painstakingly collecting newspaper cuttings, which he then reinvents in colorful collages with dissident undercurrents. In these works, Siriphol defiantly turns news stories on their heads, imbuing them with comments on bureaucratic inertia and hypocrisy. The exhibition will feature a four-channel animation of the newspaper collages made daily by the artist over five years.
The gallery is open Wed-Sun, 1-9pm. To ensure public safety, visitors must wear masks and make an appointment in advance via [email protected] or 083-087-2725. A virtual opening party will also be held on Jun 21, 9-10:30pm, on Clouds Virtual Club’s Facebook page.
