Could it be a revival of sorts?

The froyo trend has come and gone much faster than any other food trend that’s hit our city, what with the opening of Yoguru, Berrylite and the now defunct Frolick, followed by a sort of a resurgence when Spanish froyo brand Llaollao entered the market in 2013. Yoguru, Sogurt and Milk and Honey aren’t strangers to the scene, but it seems that no matter how tasty they are, they seem to lose their “freshness” after a while. Now, there seems like we’ve been hit with yet another wave of froyo establishment openings.

Kokopanda

It seems like 2016 is ending on a slightly sweet note, with the arrival of the supposedly healthy Korean soft-serve froyo and ice cream kiosk, Kokopanda. What makes them different from all the others is that they're all about sustainability, non-GMO products and superfoods. Your choices include options like KoKo Black Yogo, a striking black froyo made using roasted coconut husk; Koko White Cream, a rich and milky ice cream made from Korean milk; and KoKo Twisto, a swirl of the two. The highlight is the topping selection, covering everything from fruits like persimmon and Jeju tangerine to chia seeds and seaweed jellies. #B2-60 Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Rd.

Yogurtland

Froyo establishment Yogurtland, which seems to be the infamous Kardashian clan's choice of yogurt after being spotted in an outlet, has landed in Singapore. When you're there, choose from a selection of eight flavors (rotates every three weeks) and top it with four types of sauces and over 33 different types of toppings, ranging from fruits to chocolates. They import their ingredients from all across the world, like vanilla beans from Madagascar and chocolate from Belgium, for an authentic flavor. Everything is made from scratch with fresh Californian milk without the use of any artificial ingredients, hormones or antibiotics, and the entire yogurt-making process happens in America instead of combining yogurt premix powders with local milk. The gluten-free froyo served contains vitamin C, calcium and active live cultures. And if you're lactose intolerant, they have house-special sorbets to satisfy your cravings. #B1-165/166 Suntec City, 3 Temasek Blvd.

Husk Singapore

Inspired by the ubiquitous coconut ice cream seen on the streets of Bangkok, Husk at Plaza Singapura offers a healthier version of the creamy and sugary dessert, by using coconut water as the base ingredient. Aptly named “froco”, it's like a froyo except with coconut. They also do smoothies such as The Bruce Lee, which is a mixture of strawberries, pineapples and muesli, and their Can’t Touch This which features mangoes, coconut water and a dash of immunity booster. #B2-49 Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Rd.
