Thailand’s budget airline market just got a bit more crowded with Thai Vietjet (www.vietjetair.com) announcing several new routes in Thailand.

The Thai unit of Vietnamese low-cost carrier will open routes from Bangkok to Phuket and Chiang Mai starting this Sep 15 and Sep 26, respectively.

In addition, they will launch a new international route between Bangkok to Haiphong, Vietnam, with four flights per week starting from Nov 9. This northern port city, Vietnam's third biggest city, is home to quaint colonial buildings and a vibrant coffee culture, but is perhaps best known as the gateway to the magical Ha Long Bay, which is around 70km away.

The airline already flies to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi directly from Bangkok, with prices that hover at or above B4,000/return trip.

Stay tuned to their website on Sep 9-11 when they will offer “zero baht” tickets for select flights till Dec 31, excluding public holidays.
