A trendy speakeasy bar opens in Yangon
And the city just keeps getting cooler.
This city's cool quotient continues to rise with the opening The Blind Tiger, a three-in-one venue that combines a tapas restaurant, mixology lounge and an art gallery.
Tucked inside a restored old building, the venue takes its speakeasy theme pretty seriously. First, you have to follow a trail of tiger paw prints painted on the walls outside which lead you to a tiger mural, which doubles as the bar's entry. A secret sensor notifies staff inside, who looks through a peep hatch before deciding whether to let you in.
If you do get in, you'll find it's a blend of prohibition chic with urban touches with a flashy tiger-print bar, wooden tables and leather lounge chairs. Over at the gallery space, there are works from both emerging and prominent local artists on display. Drinks wise, there are cocktails like Spiked Tiger, a mix of tequila, fresh lime juice, chili and coriander ($8.50) while the nibbles menu includes items like ribs ($8.50) and meatballs ($7.60).
