Specialist trekking company World Expeditions have just unveiled a bunch of new treks on the roads less taken. And while it all of them may seem niche, they're perfect for those who have been just about everywhere.

While they've got an arsenal of treks going through North Vietnam, Mongolia and the Philippines, new routes include lesser-explored Asian countries like Laos, Iran, North Korea and Tajikistan. Just be warned, you'll have to spare a bit of time to complete each of them.

The eight-day Iran Damavand Expedition takes travelers through the peaks of Mount Damavand, where the highlight is a challenging uphill trek on one of the volcanoes in the Central Alborz mountain range. However, it'll cost about $2,607 for the eight-day trip which includes transportation and full-board.

If you've got a lot of time to spare, there's a 33-day trekking in the Gassir, Fann and Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan, where you'll get to see the rarely visited country's hot springs, lakes and mountains. The picturesque trek includes visits to Energiya peak, which is 5,120m above sea level, as well as the remote area of Pamirs, a region known for its colorful lakes. Don't be surprised that the month-long trip will cost you a whopping $7,909.

But if it's North Korea you want to see, head to this all-inclusive (transport and lodging included) North Korean Explorer trek where you'll soak in the sights and sounds of Pyongyang (complete with visits to Dear Leader's monuments and buildings), but also get a glimpse of villages like Wonsan, where travelers get to enjoy a BBQ with the locals. The eight-day trip will set you back $2,607 and they'll be taking care of all visa, transport and lodgings.
