This huge-deal food festival is the perfect reason to go to Margaret River
It's a hop, skip and jump from Perth.
With several years of high-profile visiting chefs, hands-on events and of course tons of great food and wine, the annual Margaret River Gourmet Escape is back for a fifth installment on Nov 18-20.
There are at least two major highlights this year. Restaurant snobs should be excited about a visit from world-renowned chefs on the list of World's 50 Best Restaurants, such as Joan Roca from El Celler de Can Roca of Spain, Mauro Colagreco from Mirazur of France, Dominique Crenn from Atelier Crenn & Petit Crenn of USA and many more.
But if TV food celebs and cookbooks are more your thing, you'll have the chance to bow down before the domestic goddess herself–UK's popular TV cook and food writer, Nigella Lawson, will be one of the international guests headlining the event. Fans can get their books signed and even attend An Audience with Nigella at the same location to learn a thing or two as she reveals her cooking secrets of the kitchen.
And an extra special treat for patriots: Singapore's very own Janice Wong from 2am: dessertbar will be joining chefs from Western Australia such as Aaron Carr (Vasse Felix), Seth James (Wills Domain), and Colin Anderson (Cullen Wines), who will also be showcasing the best of their signature dishes.
Other interesting events to look out for would be the Audi Gourmet Beach BBQs, the Feast in the Forest at the Safari Club at Leeuwin Estate and a lot more. Also, treat yourself to live music when you visit their Gourmet Village, which will have experts such as artisan producers, winemakers and brewers who'll guide you into their realm of food and wine.
Margaret River is just over a three-hour drive south of Perth and the best way to get there is by booking a Scoot flight (around $429 for a round-trip itinerary in November).
Get your tickets through Ticketek. For a full list of the events, check out their website.
