From Oct 1, both Thai and foreign visitors will have to pay more to get into 33 of the country’s national parks. For Thai citizens, park entrance fees will rise from B40 to B100 for adults and from B20 to B50 for children. Rates for foreign adults and children will increase by B100 each, to B500 and B400, respectively. According to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the price hike is necessary to meet the rising costs of park management and maintenance. (A reminder to Koh Samed weekenders: your beach heaven is also part of a national park.) And from Sep 1, national park tickets will no longer act as day-passes for additional visits on the same day.
