Known as one of the glitziest neighborhoods in all of Bangkok, Wireless Road is the place to go for the weekend if you want to splurge and live it up a little. It offers a kind of bygone charm that you’d normally need to travel to the Old Town to enjoy. The wide boulevard runs along Lumphini Park, and is lined top-to-bottom with rows of century trees and Grand Rama V-style villas surrounded by sprawling lawns—as you might have guessed, many of the city’s elite live here. Home to Bangkok's first radio station, and rumored to be the only street with buried cables, there is a lot to see (and love) when you scratch the glitzy surface and go beyond the shiny high rise buildings.
Eat

While the neighborhood is chock full of lavish restaurants, your first stop in the ‘hood should be Polo Fried Chicken on Soi Polo, just past the bottom of the street. Famous among former BK editors and Michelin inspectors alike, the crispy southern-style chicken at this 50-year-old restaurant is essential eating. Slip a block over from the main road to The Smokin’ Pug for arguably the city’s best southern American barbecue (it’s usually packed, so reserve in advance). If you want a bit of a breather from the hectic city below, check out City Terrace for tropical-style eats and drinks (think crispy calamari and fresh grilled tiger prawns) on a breezy rooftop.
Stay

Wireless Road is a splash out stay for the weekend, by any metric, so you should make sure that your hotel matches the palatial feel of the neighborhood. Conrad Bangkok, is one of the city’s most well-known luxury hotels and recent winner of the “Best City Hotel in Thailand” at the Asia-Pacific Hotel Awards 2024-25, fits the vibe here. The spacious rooms and suites include some of the best skyline views you’ll see in Bangkok (from just B7,462/night), and its Seasons Spa is renowned among the city’s lifestyle media clique. As is KiSara, its authentic Japanese restaurant, which is a regular feature in BK Magazine’s Top Tables dining awards.
Drink

Cocktails are a must in this part of town and there is an impressive list to choose from. Ninetails on Radio is a recent addition to the neighborhood, and is an extension of the famous Ninetails music bar in Ari. Here, the drinks are fancier than the original, but the chill rooftop setting remains. If cocktail bar hopping is on the menu, Diplomat Bar at Conrad Bangkok has to be on your dance card. It pairs live tunes with some of the best cocktails in the city in an intimate setting. A few minutes off the main drag in Langsuan, Crimson Room is an Art Deco jazz and cocktail den fueled by the spirit of the Roaring Twenties and some of the city’s best bartenders (also a regular figure on BK Magazine’s BAD Awards yearly).
Do

One of the best parts about staying in this area is your proximity to Lumphini Park. It’s often thought to be Bangkok’s answer to New York’s Central Park, and blends artificial lakes, wide alleys, manicured lawns and dense tropical foliage. Head over here for a picnic, jog, or morning tai chi session. Upfield to the north of Wireless are connections to some of the most visited shopping malls in the country: Central Embassy and the new Gaysorn Amarin (a short BTS ride away). Gaysorn Amarin, particularly, has become a tourist must-see this year thanks to its Louis Vuitton cafe, accompanying Gaggan Anand restaurant, and a surreal exhibition charting the history of the brand. Just beware of long queues.
