This bike tour of Southern Japan stops at a different onsen every night
Now that's a well-earned soak.
Fancy cycling along the coast of Kyushu, Japan’s largely rural, southernmost island, while stopping at a different traditional ryokan (traditional inn) every night?
SpiceRoads (www.spiceroads.com) is now offering the six-day Kyushu Onsen to Onsen tour, a 237km ride from Fukuoka to the Kunisaki Peninsula. Covering about 60km per day over four days of riding, the tour includes stops at natural and spiritual attractions including Usa-jingu, a Shinto shrine that dates back some 1,200 years.
The real highlight comes at the end of the day when you can relax after a gruelling ride with a soak at a different onsen, including those of the renowned hot spring area of Beppu on the east coast.
Tours take place once a month during Apr-Oct of this year and next. The price of US$2,200 (B77,700) includes bikes, meals and rooms but excludes international/domestic flights and visa fees.
