Heineken is collaborating with Thailand’s edgiest creative minds to rethink how we see our cities. Around the world, it’s resulted in a giant light installation on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and musical turnstiles in New York. Here, #shapeyourcity led to three very cool projects in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya, fostering a renewed sense of community.

Bangkok: Boombox Building

Musicians Oh Futon and Pok Chriathivat partnered up with Him Kijtanes, the designer of party / space / design, which is behind hot spots like Ted Factory and Shugaa. Together, they took over an abandoned space and created the Boombox Building as a musical monument to solve the city's noise pollution. This installation art piece used the junk found inside the building to create objets trouves musical instruments for a one-off concert that transformed the neighborhood.

Pattaya: Floating Game Arcade

Photographer Poj Sixtysix, fashion consultant Nee Chalisa and landscape architect Pok Kobkongsanti created a unique floating platform on the Pattaya shoreline that brought people together for fun activities and games. Struck by the contrast between Pattaya’s bright city lights and how the beach becomes a dark void at night, the illuminated platform helped bring locals back to the beach after dark.

Chiang Mai: Starlight Theater

In Chiang Mai, Joi Rubber Killer, the eco-designer of his namesake brand, DOTS Design Sudio designer Krit Phutpim and travel photographer/writer Boat Anusorn had a similar approach. Lamenting that life in Chiang Mai sticks to the city, rather than making use of the surrounding mountains, they created Starlight Theater: a temporary space contructed using stunning local craftsmanship in order to bring the city crowd into the beautiful Chiang Mai mountains.

On July 15, the global campaign will also select five crowd-funded Indiegogo projects to make an iconic contribution to a city, and reward them with US$20,000 each towards the Indiegogo campaign. Learn about upcoming events and more at www.facebook.com/Heineken.
