Santa gets subtropical.

The Anantara Golden Triangle has some special events lined up for those aching for a wintry escape. Over the holidays, you can join the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Dec 21, feast at the Christmas Eve gala dinner on Dec 24 (from B2,900++; add B1,300++ for free-flow alcohol package) while you’re serenaded by members of an indigenous hill tribe community, or enjoy Christmas brunch on Dec 25 (from B1,200++; add B1,300++ for free-flow alcohol package) the following day. On Christmas Eve, a very northern Santa will parade through the resort alongside a crew of resident elephants, too.

If you visit over the New Year, you can watch the ball drop during a masquerade ball by the pool, which gets a local twist with cultural shows, traditional craftsmanship stalls, and a lantern releasing ceremony, plus a buffet dinner and live music (B4,900++; B6,500++ with free-flow alcohol package).

Staycation rates start from a spendy-but-discounted B18,000/night for a Three Country View room. Activity bundles can be added for B6,000. Kids get discounted rates for all of the above meals, too.
