Japan's island of Okinawa now has a new hotel, a pretty tropical getaway by the Ritz Carlton group.

Ritz Carlton’s first Japanese venture, the Ritz Carlton Okinawa, opened two weeks ago on May 28.

The place boasts panoramic views of the East China Sea and is right next to the Kise Country Club (a site with two championship golf courses). The décor incorporates traditional elements like Shurijo face motifs, red clay roof tiles and water ponds.

Among its restaurants are Chura-Nuhji, an Italian fine dining establishment, and Kise, a teppanyaki spot featuring local Kuroge and Wagyu beef as well as fresh-caught seafood. Rates start at JPY58,000 (S$948).
