Don't just visit Penang for its street food like assam laksa and char kway teow; head to the Malaysian destination for great music (yes, you heard us right), especially when Penang World Music Festival (PWMF) returns on April 12 and 13. 

The festival, which traditionally celebrates global cultural music, features a variety of genres from folk, gypsy and reggae to tribal and world jazz. This year's edition, slated to be staged at Penang Botanic Gardens' Quarry Park, looks set to be an exciting one with a lineup of renowned musicians from all around the world, including Grammy nominee N'Faly Kouyate and South Africa's Carlos DjeDje and the Protecters.
