The Palace Hotel Tokyo opened May 17 in the gardens of the Imperial Palace.

Right by a moat, it replaces two shuttered hotels—Hotel Teito and the Palace Hotel—that occupied the same site from 1947 and 1961, respectively. Rooms start at US$596 (S$741).

The place features ten restaurants which run the gamut from Japanese to French, each associated with a two-star Michelin chef. Famed mineral water brand Evian, also has a luxe spa on the hotel’s fifth floor.
