Pattaya, the seafront city of unparalleled weekend-getaway convenience, is about to be even easier to reach.

In an effort to draw more tourists to the city, state railway authorities have announced a new air-conditioned train service running from Bangkok to Pattaya slated to begin service in March.

The launch date has yet to be fixed, but the train’s operating schedule has been announced as 6:30am from Bangkok to Pattaya, with a return journey at 3:50pm. The service will be available on weekends and public holidays only.

Stops along the way are Sri Racha, North Pattaya, the Four Regions Floating Market, the Nong Nuch Gardens and Wat Yan Temple.

Prices are still to be announced, but with a traveling time of two and a half hours, the train already sounds preferable to the usual two hours in a cramped minivan.

According to Khaosod English, the current trial run is scheduled for six months.
