The trend for small boutique hotels hidden away in shophouses is currently exploding in Singapore with the latest addition being Naumi Liora (55 Keong Saik Rd., Singapore, www.naumiliora.com). Designed by Gaurang Khemka, founder of award-winning design company URBNarc, the hotel, which is housed in ten 1920s-Peranakan-style shophouses, has retained the original timber flooring and louvre shuttered windows. There are a total of 79 rooms (up to 60 sq meters in size) and three room categories—Liora Quaint (with a sloping attic-style roof), Liora Heritage and Liora Porch (with a pretty outdoor area and view of Duxton Plains). Other facilities include a complimentary 24-hour self-serve snack bar and a 24-hour fitness center.
