While Isaan folk head to the Mekong riverside for naga fireballs at the end of Buddhist Lent, Bangkokians can opt for a shorter religious-themed trip to the world’s one-and-only Rub Bua Festival in Samut Prakarn. On Oct 11, there will be a barge procession of the sacred Buddha image, Luang Po Toh, along Klong Samrong, and locals will line up along the banks to throw lotus flowers onto the boat. The evening will end with a grand celebration in front of Bangplee Municipality Office and in Wat Bangplee Yai, complete with traditional performances, folk music shows and an OTOP product fair.
