Sala Bang Pa-in, the Sala Hospitality Group’s ninth property in Thailand and fifth in its boutique catalog, offers a riverside sanctuary on the sleepy fringes of Ayutthaya.

The resort occupies a private islet in Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in district—a spit of land carved out by the river about 25km south of its other property in the provincial capital.

The property offers a picturesque holiday spot for those dreaming of some greenery and looking to uncover local history. It houses 24 deluxe rooms, spa-inspired bathrooms, and pool villas with riverside terraces including daybeds and private pools. All were made in collaboration with the Department of Architecture Co., the design firm behind projects like The Commons (Saladaeng and Thonglor), the Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC), and Six Senses Samui.

The highlight, however, is the hotel’s fleet of boats—including a 40-ft wooden motorboat, custom-made by a local boat builder. These offer complimentary rides to and from the historic Summer Palace, as well as sightseeing tours and cocktail cruises.

The property will be opening its doors on May 1, 2021, and you can start making your reservations now (from B5,180 net per night) on the Sala group’s website
