Named after a real ship, Khao Lak's nautical newcomer, 813 Khaolak Hostel (www.fb.com/813khaolakhostel), is one of the latest themed hostels to appear on the tropical mountains.

Located 800 meters from the beach and nestled right by the Khao Lak night market and International Tsunami Museum, you'll feel like you just stepped into a ship's interior when you see the bare cement walls, rustic furniture, wooden floorboards and nautical markers like wooden barrels, anchors and thick ropes. 

The hostel is home to 11 ship-style rooms, with two room types--single and double (both around B1,200 per night). 

Although an on-site restaurant is still in the works, there is an outdoor bar serving beer and classic cocktails, alongside live acoustic music.
