We’ve mentioned it before, but believe us it bears repeating: Japan’s two largest outdoor music events take place this month and next. The 16th Fuji Rock Festival (tickets from ¥16,800 [B6,310], www.fujirockfestival.com) swings into action Jul 27-29 at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata, featuring over 200 Japanese and international artists including The Stone Roses, Radiohead and The Shins. The even larger Summer Sonic (www.summersonic.com) happens on Aug 18-19 in Tokyo and Osaka, with a lineup covering everything from rock (Green Day, Franz Ferdinand), pop (Rihanna, Kesha), dance (Pitbull, Calvin Harris) and even a few wildcards (Gotye, Foster the People). Tickets are ¥15,000 (B6,000)/day, ¥27,000 (B10,715)/two days for Tokyo and ¥12,500 (B4,960)/day, ¥22,500 (B8,930)/two days for Osaka.
