A last-minute alert for those who’ve booked a trip to Japan but haven’t planned a visit to Mount Fuji, arguably Japan’s most famous landmark, located on the border of Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. Official train operator JR East has launched a special “Mt. Fuji Round Trip Ticket” for foreign travelers looking to take a day or two-day trip from Tokyo. Tickets are JPY5,500 (B2,180) per adult, half the price of a regular fare, and applicable for the JR Fuji Kyuko line for any two-day period through Oct 31. Traveling from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji requires five train changes so make sure you study up beforehand. Tickets can be purchased at both Narita and Haneda airports. For more info, visit www.jreast.co.jp
