Closed since the 1980s, historic Kuala Lumpur retreat The Majestic Hotel relaunches on December 1.

Historic Kuala Lumpur establishment The Majestic Hotel is set to reopen on December 1 with an impressive interior featuring 1950s-style Neo-Classical elements.

Originally built in the 1930s, the property has played host to noted figures such as author Graham Greene and Hollywood actor David Niven. It was closed back in 1984 and for years, the building housed the National Art Gallery of Malaysia and the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Association.

Conveniently located opposite the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, the refreshed space has 300 rooms and five F&B establishments including Hainanese joint Colonial Cafe and contemporary restaurant Opus One. Plus, there’s a wine cellar with bottles from Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi estates.
