The Naka Island, the long-standing luxury hideaway off Phuket’s northeast coast, has just completed a seven-month-long facelift. The resort’s new look includes 10 more deluxe rooms, an upgrade to the 24-hour gym that has expanded its size to a roomy 219sqm and a new beachfront restaurant and bar called Rum Chapel.

The new rooms aim for a tropical style, with earthy palettes, raw natural furnishings, traditional wooden decor and stucco walls. The bar-restaurant, meanwhile, features a casual island-style menu and vibe with indoor-outdoor seating for up to 50. As for the drinks, expect lots of rum, including local brands like Chalong Bay, as well as craft beer.
