Today (Jun 29) sees the official opening of Gardens by the Bay (www.gardensbythebay.org.sg), a 101-hectare botanical garden situated in the new downtown area next to Marina Bay Sands. Dominated by two domed conservatories housing over a quarter of a million rare plants, the site also features towering steel ‘Supertrees’ with an aerial walkway that rises some 50 meters into the sky, giving a panoramic view of the gardens and the city’s bustling urban district. The outdoor garden opens from 5am-2am daily, while the conservatories (S$28 [B695] admission) and aerial walkway (S$5 [B125]) are open from 9am-9pm. Singapore citizens pay cheaper prices, though.
