Finally, a direct (albeit seasonal) flight to Hokkaido
No more inconvenient transits (for a while, at least)—Singapore Airlines will be operating seasonal services to Sapporo during December and next January.
Who wouldn't love Hokkaido, with its abundant fresh seafood, crisp air and rolling hills? We've got great news—Singapore Airlines will be operating seasonal services to Sapporo (the capital city of Hokkaido Prefecture) during December and next January, making it the first direct flight from Singapore to the Japanese island.
The airline will fly twice weekly to Sapporo's New Chitose Airport as SQ660 on Mondays and Fridays, between December 1 2014 and January 16 2015. Flights from Singapore will depart at 11.30pm and arrive at 8am local time in Hokkaido the following day. Return flights depart at 9.30am local time in Hokkaido and arrive at 8.55am in Singapore.
Tickets will cost you a pretty penny, though (it's Singapore Airlines, after all)—a round-trip itinerary will set you back around $1,814 upwards in December. But direct, convenient access to tons of seafood and skiing? We daresay it might well be worth it. Visit the airline's official website to book.
