Charity event Anantara King's Cup Elephant Polo Tournament is moving from Hua Hin to its new home in the Thai Capital.

The popular charity event Anantara King's Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, now in its 13th year, is relocating from the coastal town of Hua Hin to Thai capital Bangkok and you can be there to mark the occasion.

In past years, players have come from across the globe to take part in the tournament. Last year alone, the 16 teams included New Zealand All Black rugby players, professional polo players, Thai supermodels, Miss Tiffany's transgender performers and European Royalty; all competing for the King's Cup Trophy.

The real purpose of the tournament though is to raise money and awareness for wild and domesticated elephants in Thailand. So far, US$750,000 has been raised for organizations that help elephants, placing street elephants in natural jungle settings with proper nutrition and veterinary care, as well as planting trees to create elephant corridors.

This year's elephant polo tournament will take place at its new home, Siam Polo Park at VR Sports Club in Bangkok, from August 28 to 31. More info can be found on the tournament website, closer to the time.
