Anantara hospitality group's annual King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament returns from Mar 9-12 aiming to raise money for Thai elephants.

Now in its 15th year, the event has proven one of the biggest charitable events in Southeast Asia. Throughout the tournament, you can expect fancy parades, jazz music and parties and educational activities for kids, as well as the main-attraction polo matches. The standard one-day pass is B200, but there are also 4-day VIP tickets available for B2,500.

We recently had the opportunity to visit Anantara's elephant camp in Chiang Rai where about 20 rescued elephants and their mahouts are well-taken care of and allowed to roam the property's 400-rai forest. The camp also works alongside the Golden Triangle Asian Foundation to better the welfare of elephants elsewhere in the country. As a result, we're happy to throw our weight behind the event.

This year's event will take place at Charoen Nakhon Soi 57/1, which is a 5-minute walk from Anantara Riverside—there's a free shuttle service from the hotel to the polo pitch, as well as free shuttle boats available from BTS Saphan Taksin.
