Luxe China retreat Crowne Plaza Resort Xishuangbanna—the company’s first Crowne Plaza Resort in China—is now open in Xishuangbanna in the Yunnan province, with rates starting at CNY840 (S$168).

On the border with Myanmar and Laos, the 520-roomer is modelled after a Dai Palace and has a Southeast Asian vibe, with lush tropical gardens. There are six food and beverage outlets, including Padma Dai barbecue offering local dishes from Yunnan, Thai eatery Lotus Thai and all-day dining spot Noo Sam. There’s also an expansive fitness centre, tennis courts, a heated indoor pool and landscaped outdoor pool, plus a functioning Dai temple on-site.
