Phuket’s newest luxury hotel, Twinpalms MontAzure, sits perched on some 100 meters of the last direct beachfront on the west coast of the island.

This latest mixed resort and residence project from the upscale Thai Twinpalms Hotels & Resorts group is set directly on family-friendly Kamala Beach, a five-minute drive from the original Twinpalms resort on Surin Beach.

Already claiming membership in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World—a group that champions the best-of-the-best small, independent stays—Twinpalms MontAzure offers just 46 rooms, the most desirable of which are the pool suites and beach-facing penthouses.

Accommodation ranges in size from a 70-square-meter suite (from B16,400 per night in the low season) to a 300sqm two-bedroom penthouse with private pool and uninterrupted sea view (yours for a cool B85,400 during the high season).

At those prices you can be sure you’re well looked after. Designed by Martin Palleros, of Singapore’s Tierra Design, the hotel fully embraces its setting that combines beach and mountainside with palm trees and running streams found throughout. Guests can make use of two pools—one ideal for a few holiday laps and the other a beach-level infinity pool (open 24 hours!) with views out over the Andaman Sea.

The property's in-house restaurant, Shimmer, serves traditional southern Thai dishes from 7am, while there’s also a beach lounge, HQ, next door for an after-dinner drink. If that’s still too quiet for you, you can grab a complimentary 15-minute shuttle to Catch Beach Club, from the same owners, in search of a more late-night party vibe.

Good news is there is the hotel also runs with a "no single-use plastic" policy. All drinking water in the hotel is served in glass bottles, including what's inside your room.
