Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai's iconic "White Temple" designed and built by national artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, will get a new look this winter.

Chalermchai has teamed up with Index Creative Village for a new immersive light and sound show dubbed “Wat Rong Khun Light Fest, Episode: Begins.”

The result of over B100 million investment, the show employs 3D laser projection mapping techniques to illuminate the temple, combining these arresting visuals with singing and dance performances.

In all, six shows will take place at five different sections of the 12-rai temple complex over the span of an hour. Those also involved in the project include renowned writer/composer Sarawut “Nann” Lertpanyanuch (whose credits include Banlang Mek the Musical, Si Pan Din [Four Reigns]), dance director and choreographer Nipon Wannamahin and lighting specialists LightSource.

The spectacle runs nightly from Nov 22-Dec 22, with tickets ranging in price from B400-1,150. Part of the proceeds will go to Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital.
