In order to celebrate its 750th anniversary (that’s a clear 230 years older than Bangkok), Chiang Rai is not only holding festivities throughout this year, but is also touting a list of the seven wonders and five sacred places tourists must visit while there. We’re not very excited about the five temples, but the seven wonders are really interesting: Wat Rong Khun, Phu Chee Fah, Chalermchai’s Clock Tower, Doitung Royal Villa, The Golden Triangle, Wat Ka Khao and Mae Pah Luang University.
